Programmes

Our approach is evidence-based and informed by leading-edge thinking on the world of work and this means our team of business consultants offer much more than practical solutions. The Work Foundation’s research helps us to place business solutions in the context of what is happening in the wider economy now and what is likely to happen in the future.

Our researchers work collaboratively with our consultants  to offer leading edge-solutions to today's public and private sector organisations.

We have specific expertise in the following:

HR Strategy - The Future of HR

High-impact HR needs to be both resilient and adaptive. We work with HR leaders to help them develop a confident HR function that has the capacity to pursue a futures agenda, whilst meeting the current needs of the organisation.

Our new programme and research into The Future of HR will produce findings which will help organisations understand the sources of their own performance and which HR practices make a significant contribution.  Which practices work? How do they work?  Why do they work?

Our consultants apply these finding when working with organisations wishing to best manage their people and question whether the current model of HR is producing optimum results in terms of people and performance. We also help develop employee engagement strategies

Leadership - Leading for Sustainable High Performance

Leadership plays a key role in both performance of organisations and their culture and therefore is a key driver of good work and organisational well being.

Our experience shows that an effective leadership team is the foundation of future success. Leaders must be able to deliver results. We work with decision makers to help them engage and motivate their people, inspiring their trust and commitment.

Our Leading for High Performance Research will addresses the relationship between leadership and high performance. It seeks to isolate those leadership actions and behaviours that promote sustainable high performance outcomes.

Health and Wellbeing at Work

The Health and Wellbeing programme seeks to promote a systemic approach to creating healthy workplaces. Health at work is about more than people being physically well. Our research shows the importance of the way in which work is organised, jobs are designed and management practices are implemented to the establishment and sustainment of a healthy work environment and in preventing work related and non-work related health issues from developing or worsening.

Our team of experts are at the forefront of the policy debate about the interaction of work and health. We produce leading edge research, and have a strong track record of working with organisations to overcome problems associated with this agenda.

What we do and how we can work with you:

The success of the economy and the organisations within it will depend on the balance of work life quality and performance. The Health and Wellbeing programme team has a deep-rooted understanding of organisations grounded in the evidence that enables us to turn insights into practical advice, learning and action. We work with private sector global industries (petro chemical, pharmaceutical and energy companies), SMEs and with central government on health and well-being issues.

We provide advice and support through research and consultancy on proven employee engagement methodologies, implementation strategies and change management principles.

We tailor our methods, skills and degrees of involvement to the requirements of each organisation, but a sample of how we help organisations includes:

  • designing health and wellbeing strategy
  • facilitating implementation of health and wellbeing strategies analysing existing data to gain new insights
  • identifying and collecting baseline data
  • setting up “pilots”, “demonstrator sites” or “early implementer” schemes
  • evaluating success of schemes

designing line manager training

Our combination of policy knowledge, rigorous research and practical insight help us to provide strategic advice to places that are creating economic development strategies; supporting them to bring stakeholders together to have a shared vision of the future of their place. Our work, combining economic and social analysis, is tailored to the needs of each city we work with, whilst allowing for comparison and benchmarking.
